Funding of Our Film

Wednesday, 8 July 2009

Our film has been defined as a British Film by the Department of Culture, Media and Support (DCMS) as it has gained over 25 points on the points list used. With our film being set and filmed in Foxton, in Cambridge, the film gains 4 points for this determination of definition. All the characters and actors are British; and with our narrative representing British teenagers and British problems, the subject matter proves to be defined as a British film.
As we have begun our filming with an extremely low budget, we have had to use external companies to assist us along our way. The main company that is going to help us is the UK Film Council. They work with The National Lottery to help fund films that are considered ‘British Films’.

The UK Film Council offers us a variety of paths to go down. (UK Film Council) We have chosen the “Development Fund” as it enables us to have up to £25, 000 to work with. Not only is this more than enough money to use, but it is the perfect scheme for us as it is for “emerging filmmakers” and for people “who have not made a feature film” or have not had it “released theatrically or broadcast on UK television”.
