We are using our low budget as an advantage focusing on social reality and hoping that we make our audience feel as if they are there. These terms will allow our trailer to follow the conventions of a docu-drama aesthetic.
The film, "Dead Man's Shoes" has informed our shooting style in our realistic depiction of contemporary Britain. The trailer below shows the flash-back shots (in black and white) and also the present time scenes which we will take into consideration.
Another film that has influenced our choices is the American film 'Wolf Creek' in its realistic depiction of true events. We are particularly going to reference the editing choices (the montage effect) of quick pace editing at the finale of the trailer. Here is the trailer below ...
A technique that we will definitely use is that of foreshadowing the future. This will be done by using flash-cuts and subliminal shots. Kubrick's film 'The Shining' has influenced us on our decision of this type of technique. The scene below demonstrates this when the two girls have appear 'alive', followed quickly by the brutal images of their deaths.
